Autumn colours at the Botanic Gardens

#20 Do - rummage in the beautiful autumn leaves in the Botanic Gardens in Dunedin. My new favourite tree is the Japanese Maple - Acer palmatum - the leaves have such vibrant pink and red colours (even those lying in the grass!) The Dunedin Botanic Garden is NZ's first botanic garden, established in 1863. I found the best autumn colours in the Azalea Garden today, where I read that it was started for training student teachers, then became a model cottage garden (for beginner gardeners like myself!) and then in 1923 400 azaleas were planted, some of which are still there today
