Otago Daily Times
#23 Buy - the Otago Daily Times. Julius Vogel arrived in Otago in 1861 in the midst of gold fever and a booming population, and realised the need for a daily paper. Along with William Cutten, they produced the first ODT on the 15th November 1861. 156 years and 15 editors later, it is still independent and locally owned. It's New Zealand's first and longest running daily newspaper. Catching up on the weekend paper with a cup of tea is a nice way to start a Monday (especially when sitting in a motel in Christchurch!)
