#26 Eat - Bluff oysters in Bluff. I popped into Fowler Oysters and picked up some deliciously fresh oysters - Walter and Marjorie Fowler established the business in 1963, their daughter Eve has since taken over the business and I met their granddaughter in the shop today. Bluff is famous for it's oysters and the annual Bluff Oyster and Food Festival (20th May - sold out already!) Commercial oystering began in the 1860s in Stewart Island and the hive of activity moved to Bluff when deeper beds were found in the pristine Foveaux Strait. The oyster season runs from March to August
