Posy Making for ANZAC Day
#37 Do - participate in the making of about 4500 posies for the Posy Laying Ceremonies for ANZAC Day. This morning, along with many other volunteers, some large bags of donated rosemary (the room smelt amazing) and a few ANZAC biscuits, we put together wee posies made up of sprigs of rosemary wrapped in red paper (for the poppy) for remembrance. Rosemary is known as the herb of remembrance, I learnt it also has particular significance as it grows wild on the Gallipoli Peninsula and of course, the red poppy was the one of the first plants to bloom on the battlefields of northern France and Belgium during the First World War. These will be laid on the graves of our local servicemen and women ❤️
