Harbour Cycleway

#58 Do - a late afternoon ride along the harbour cycleway. Nearing the end of a perfect blue sky day, it was great to see so many people out using it. I cycled by a lady on roller skates, kids on scooters, runners and the train pottered past, but totally away from cars and almost completely flat (rare in Dunedin), it's such a great track with beautiful views. The track was extended from Maia to St Leonards in 2012 and will eventually go all the way to Port Chalmers, which will be fantastic. The suburbs Maia, St Leonards, Ravensbourne and Burkes were the borough of West Harbour from 1877 until 1963 when it amalgamated with Dunedin City.
