No. 7 Balmac

#61 Drink - today I found a cosy corner for a yummy green smoothie at No.7 Balmac. The sun beams into this great wee spot in the suburbs, perfect for a late afternoon stop before the storm came. Locally owned by Katrina Toovey, it opened in 2009, they have delicious baking, great coffee, wonderful evening dining and fantastic staff. I read that the No.7 Balmac building was originally the Maori Hill Fire Station from 1909 to 1920. It had 20 volunteer fire fighters and the book 'Above the Belt: A History of the Suburb of Maori Hill' also mentioned the station was designed by local architect company Mason and Wales. Love the history and localness!
