Winter Garden Glasshouse
#81 Do - escape the winter and imagine you're in the tropics at the 'Winter Garden Glasshouse' in the Dunedin Botanic Gardens. The Edwardian style conservatory was built in 1908 based on a design by English architects McKenzie and Moncur Ltd. A generous bequest left by local businessman Robert Glendining helped fund the project. It's thought to be the first public conservatory in Australasia and has plants from tropical, desert and sub-tropical regions. The Tropical House, in the middle of the glasshouse, is kept at 22-28 degrees during the day with high humidity, so it feels deliciously warm. Spot the banana tree with lots of green bananas
