Sit in the sunshine in Carlton
#94 Do - on a sunny winter morning we strolled north of the city centre to our old neighbourhood of Carlton. It was the perfect spot to pick up a great coffee (from Assembly), a mushroom brioche and bomboloni (Baker D Chirico) and choose the sunniest park bench in Argyle Square to sit and enjoy it. Bliss. Carlton is known as the 'Italian Precinct' with many great spots for pizza, pasta and gelato along Lygon St. We found the restaurants get better the further you walk away from the city, best in the the blocks between Grattan St and Elgin St, where they don't try and drag you in! It is also nice to walk Drummond St, which runs parallel to Lygon, and see the lovely double storied Victorian era terraced houses.
