Retro Organics
#101 Eat - afternoon treat of a choc-coco muggin topped with locally made Retro Organics yoghurt. Made on the Tuturau Family Farm in Southland, with a herd of 350 Jersey cows, Robin and Lois Greer can trace their products back to the paddock the milk came from. Lois and Robin established Retro Organics in 2008 with the plan for an old-style farm dairy, where all processing and packaging is completed right on the farm. Retro Organics first caught my eye when I spotted their Gore Gruyere, they keep it local with names like Caitlins Camembert, Hokonui Halloumi and Wyndham Chedder. You can even see the cheese in production and the cows if you visit their farm shop (a road trip on my to-do list)
