Earnscleugh Orchards Cooperative

#121 Eat - Delicious dried fruit from Earnscleugh Orchards Cooperative in Central Otago. Stan and his wife Daphne have a 30 acre block on Earnscleugh Rd in Alexandra, where they grow organic pip fruit, which they sell at the Otago Farmers Market. They have yummy fresh fruit, but I've also recently discovered Stan's dried apple, a very tasty snack. He has also been drying Taylor's Gold pears, I imagine these are delicious too. The best part about his dried fruit is that there is no sulphur added for those with allergies. Stan is currently experimenting with freeze drying fruit - apricots and cherries, which apparently have the ability to last at least 20 years without refrigeration and when reconstituted with water, they retain 98% of original character - amazing. I can imagine Stan enjoying experimenting with his fruit with his science background, I remember him giving me chemistry tutorials at high school in Alexandra!
