Tokata Lighthouse
#128 Do - walk to the Nugget Point Lighthouse (aka Tokata Lighthouse) on sunrise in the Catlins. It's a short walk with beautiful coastal views, the point is surrounded by wave eroded rocky islets 'the nuggets' - resembling gold nuggets. The lighthouse sits 76m above sea level and sends out 2 flashes of light every 12 seconds. It was first lit in 1870 and became automated in 1988. About 1.5 hour south from Dunedin, it's an easy and scenic drive - a great start to the day
