#139 Buy - the excellent services of Beggs Ski Shop. The only specialist snow sports store in Dunedin, it's been helping locals get sorted for the snow since 1956. Tucked behind George St, you feel like you're going into a ski hut on the mountain, you can smell the wax and see them working away. Locally owned by Simon, they offer new gear, ex demo gear, servicing, and a fantastic rental option for the entire season - my friends tell me it's perfect for their growing kids and saves queuing for gear on the mountain. Today I collected our tuned skis that saw a few rocks last season and left with a plan to see Simon next week to try new boots (after being fitted years ago in the US into an extremely tight pair of boots - apparently perfect for ski racing, not so perfect for slow me and my toes!)
