Nic Dempster

#163 Do - check out local artist Nic Dempster's 'Green Space Adjacent' exhibition currently on at Gallery De Novo. So vibrant with colour, his perfectly clean lined houses are a fun snap of suburbia. Being hillside with the adjacent green spaces, I think they're great local pieces as you can look up at many of our hillside suburbs and see them in his work. A super lovely guy, Nic grew up on a farm in Waikouaiti and spent time travelling and living overseas before returning home to Dunedin. Influenced by New Zealand artists like Michael Smithers, Rita Angus, Nigel Brown, Toss Woollaston and Colin McCahon, it was great to pop in and see this fantastic collection (photo taken is part of one called Little Boxes).
