#171 Buy - West's drinks! Made in Dunedin since 1876 and still locally owned and operated. England born Thomas West started with a grocery store in Maclaggan St and one product became particularly popular - his brightly coloured cordials. He went on to build a factory in St Kilda, where he made other products like hop and ginger beer. West's still produces cordials but also drinks like their iconic pineapple and pear flavour fizz, milkshake syrups and more recently Kombucha - which I am keen to try. I headed to the factory store, which is in the same spot in St Kilda where it started over 100 years ago and met Alf, the friendly owner (along with his wife Kaye) and bought some freshly made Kombucha - currently chilling in my fridge! I also spotted this cute vintage advert poster. When I was little, one of my favourite treats was their Ice Cream Soda with a dollop of vanilla ice cream
