The Good Oil

#181 Buy - a delicious smoothie from The Good Oil Cafe. Established in 2003, this busy cafe is locally owned by Bryan and Franny. They produce so many yummy menu items that they've been in the ODT 'Ask A Chef' recipe feature at least 10 times! It was the perfect spot to sit today in the spring warmth. It was fun to learn a little of the building history too (from a document by Peter Entwisle) - originally built in 1876 then remodelled in 1929 when John Glau owned the building (JG 1930 is on the top of the building) with many tenants including JH Hutton (music teacher), Adams Bruce Ltd (Queen Anne Chocolates), De Luxe Beauty Salon, MacDonald's Pharmacy, Tiffany's Hair Stylist and Edinburgh Confectionery - the stories these walls could tell! I love the shop frontage of 316 with lovely windows and tiles (don't they work perfectly with my smoothie!)
