Parkrun Dunedin
#182 Do - celebrate completing parkrun on a sunny spring morning. I discovered parkrun this year, it's a 5km run or walk event every Saturday morning in Dunedin. Parkrun started in England in 2004 with 13 people, and is now up to almost 2.5 million members in 15 countries worldwide! Local couple Emma and Adrian started it in Dunedin almost 4 years ago and the 5km loop is through trails in the beautiful Botanic Gardens with a short challenging section known as the 'stairs of despair'! It's free to join, run by volunteers and you get a barcode so your run/walk is timed. Best part...when the run falls on the 22nd of the month, you get to wear a tutu! Also the fun idea that you can take part in other parkruns in NZ and around the world. Today was my 15th run and I did it with 93 others (about 10 were visitors to Dunedin - great way to experience local when travelling!), so happy to have discovered this great local eventÂ
