The Friday Shop

#184 Eat - the perfect lunch, a spinach, feta and parmesan quiche from The Friday Shop with a rocket salad. The Friday Shop (aka The Highgate Bridge) is the Roslyn bakery that becomes a hive of activity first thing every Friday. It is locally owned by Jim, a Dunedin chef who trained locally and then headed overseas to work (including time in Michelin star restaurants in England). He returned home in 1997 and started selling baked goods from the boot of his car, which led to opening of the bakery in Roslyn. Amazing pastries - Jim's almond croissants are famous, pies, quiches (my favourite easy lunch or dinner and they freeze perfectly so I always have a few stashed away) and soups and always friendly, helpful staff. Great local spot for great quality food
