Cute Lambs

#190 Do - spring has arrived in Central Otago! It's a great time of the year to go rural as the countryside becomes a burst of colour and the paddocks are full of lambs. We're a region based on farming, with Captain Cook first bringing sheep to New Zealand in 1773, and one of the first farms set up in New Zealand was by whaler Johnny Jones in the 1840s in Otago. He farmed around 2000 sheep. Although gold outshone other economic activity in the region from 1861, with the export of refrigerated meat from 1882 (from Port Chalmers) and wool, sheep farming has been and still is a huge part of New Zealand's economy. This wee lamb is one of twins - our first ever lambs on our small block of land in Central Otago, very exciting!
