Holy Cow!
#192 Buy - super fresh milk and cream from Holy Cow, right from the farm gate. It's a true experience to buy from this small dairy farm just above Carey's Bay, locally owned by Alex and Merrall. They recently re-opened in August, having sold raw milk for many years, they now sell it pasteurised. Driving in (go right to the end of Reynoldstown Road) and see the stunning views over the harbour, walking through the milking shed with named bays for each cow and music playing quietly, and past some beautiful new calves (lovely big eyes!) to get to the stall for milk and cream - there's a money jar so remember to take cash. I met Alex and Merrall as they were doing jobs around the farm, they were lovely to talk to, and they now sell their products at the Otago Farmers Market and at Taste Nature. The glass bottles, tops and labels are all reused when returned, which is fantastic. I loved heading out to the farm and the milk and cream taste amazing!
