#199 Do - find UrbanNature panels around our city and connect to nature. The Department of Conservation has partnered up with the Otago Museum to design these beautiful panels to help us learn about the plants, animals and seasonal events that are here and happening right in our city. They did a pilot project on Portsmouth Drive in 2015 with the panels, and since April this year, more have been popping up around the city. With around 25 locations, you'll find them in the Town Belt, Woodhaugh Gardens, urban streams, parks and coastal sites. I found this one in my local Jubilee Park encouraging me to listen to the birds (it motivated me to download a 'quick scan' app too!) and I discovered the great information the panels offer, which you can also find on the DOC website. The bird song information also has links to a free online training course on how to identify New Zealand forest birds and links to listen to the songs and calls of NZ birds - love it!
