45th Parallel Walk
#210 Do - when in Central Otago....walk up the many steps to the views from the 45th southern parallel (along the road from Cromwell to Wanaka) the half way point between the Equator and South Pole. The sun is visible for 15 hours and 37 minutes during the December solstice and 8 hours and 46 minutes during the June solstice. Looking forward to some long summer days! The walk is a short steep climb (turns out there are 501 steps as per the information sign, seems a lot more than I would have thought!) with a nice seat at the top to recover, great to see the sun rise.
