#212 Eat - 'The Johnnie' from Johnnie's Southern Kitchen in Rattray Street. A pulled pork burrito with BBQ sauce and a side of 'sauced corn chips' - freshly made and delicious. Locally owned by Matt and Kim, they made Dunedin home 5 years ago, moving to New Zealand from Denver in the USA, when they decided they wanted to do something totally different with their lives (Kim was a University Professor and Matt a theatre professional). They opened their Tex Otago mobile food cart over 4 years ago and their kitchen in Rattray St in April last year, seeing a spot in the market for Tex-Mex fusion food. Matt's mum, Johnnie, taught him to cook, growing up in Dallas in the Southern state of Texas. So great to meet locals bringing quality, specialty foods from around the world to us here in Dunedin, it was a very tasty lunch stop today
