FIKA Pepparkakor Kake
#218 Eat - pepparkakor kake! A delicious gingerbread cake by Fika, a local business specialising in Swedish and Scandinavian baking. Pastry chefs, Peter and Zoë, make their treats and sell them at the Cromwell Market (they also have a stall at the Alexandra and Remarkables Park market), where I picked up this tasty wee cake. How could I resist with that cute ‘eat me’ sign?! They also make beautiful kanelbullar (cinnamon buns) that I can highly recommend. Fika is a Swedish custom where people meet and drink coffee and eat pastries, cookies or cake - a social gathering that’s considered really important in their culture. The cake was perfect for sharing with my family for afternoon tea.
