Smaill’s Beach
#228 Do - on another warm, sunny afternoon, it was the perfect opportunity to dip a toe into the ocean at another of our amazing beaches. Smaill's beach on the south coast of the Otago Peninsula was named after the Smaill family who arrived in Dunedin in 1858 from Scotland and settled in Tomahawk. They were the centre of the farming community in the Tomahawk area in the late 1800s and were known for their progressive farming practices. The beach was a great finishing point after a run today up the Karetai Track with my friend, and chance to test the water temperature. Still a bit chilly for me!
