Nicol’s Falls
#248 Do - today’s adventure was Nicol’s Falls. The native bush track to the falls was created by Mick Finnerty in the 1890s and he charged 6d for access. Apparently it was so popular that there were reports of up to 20 horse drawn vehicles blocking the Leith Valley Road at times. Named after Mr David Nicol who originally owned the land, it’s just a 10 minute drive from the city centre, and 15 minutes up a beautiful (slippery at times) track to the 5m waterfall. Perhaps I missed it, but seemed to lack a little in signage and had to take a guess at one point. My adventure continued when I lost the track attempting to return via the creek route and ended up having to turn around and go back the same way I’d come! A fun explore.
