Rauchbier in Bamberg
#267 Eat/Drink - Local. Bamberg is famous for its many breweries and in particular for the Rauchbier, which is a smoked beer. It was great to try it sitting in a tiny cosy pub, Kachelofen, in the centre of the historic area. This beer is from the Schlenkerla Brewery, which goes way back to 1405 and is currently run by the 6th generation of the Trum/Graser family. I loved the smoky brew! And perfectly followed by a Bamberger Bratwürste at the market. Reminds me how lucky we are in the South with our locally produced beers and our amazing local produce markets.
