Hänsel und Gretel in Leipzig

#269 Do - Celebrate music in Leipzig. With a musical history that includes the famous Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra that originated in 1743, a boys choir (St. Thomas) that dates back to 1212, it was home for composers Felix Mendelssohn, Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann and Richard Wagner and there are many tributes to music and composers around the city. Today I've arrived to the Leipzig Opera's German fairytale (with hundreds of local children!) Hänsel und Gretel, with music by the Gewandhaus Orchestra. What makes the opera even more special is my super talented school friend from Alexandra, Jenny, is playing violin in the orchestra 🎶
