Off Our Tree Cherries
#286 Eat - Central Otago cherries. So sweet and such an Otago summer staple. One of my favourite farm gate cherry orchard shops is Off Our Tree near Cromwell where I popped in yesterday. A locally owned and run family business, Ali and Gary Jackson bought their block of land in 1999 and planted their 2500 trees. They produce top quality cherries (always big and delicious) - perfect dessert this evening while sitting next to the Lake. Central Otago provides more than 90% of New Zealand cherry exports, with over 3000 tonnes exported annually. And how lucky are we to have these on our doorstep.
