The Moorpark Apricot
#302 Eat - A freshly picked Moorpark apricot from Central Otago. This old fashioned variety has such amazing sweetness. Apricots were introduced to England by King Henry VIII’s gardener who brought the trees in from Italy in 1542. The Moorpark variety was developed by Lord Anson at Moor Park in Hertfordshire, which were then introduced to New Zealand from England. They’re sought after in Central by those looking for the old style delicious flavour they offer. These were picked fresh from my father-in-law’s tree and eaten on the grass on a hot sunny afternoon.
