Tūhura’s Tropical Forest
#310 Do - Tūhura’s Tropical Forest butterfly house at the Otago Museum. It’s the home to over a thousand exotic butterflies, tarantulas, cute little chinese quail, java sparrows, zebra finch, goliath stick insects and turtles in a tropical (28 degree) forest with a waterfall. I loved the beautiful big blue morpho butterflies with their incredible blue dorsal wings. Apparently if you wear rosehip oil on your skin they’re attracted to land on you, today my blue wrist band was apparently my only attraction! Great to be there for the 'First Flight' butterfly release and see so many kids (and adults) captivated by this fantastic experience.
