Best Café

#326 Eat - Fresh blue cod and chips from Best Café. This wee restaurant is super cute retro, you step back into the 1950s as you walk in, and even the batter recipe hasn’t changed since then! Locally owned by Jess, she returned from London in 2017 having bought the business. The neat part is her great-grandfather bought the business in the 1930s and her family owned it for about 50 years. Best Café is especially known for its fresh fish and battered Bluff oysters. I love that even sitting waiting for takeaways, the reading material includes vintage ‘New Zealand’s Heritage’ magazines. A very tasty local Kiwi dinner treat
