Winton - The Heart of Southland

#341 Do - A day trip to the heart of Southland ♥️ Winton! One of Southland’s oldest towns, it was establish in 1861 and named after Thomas Winton who often drove stock through the area in the 1850s. A great way to explore is a jog around the Winton Walkway, a 9km loop of the town that opened in 2014 through native bush, farmland and along the Winton Creek. I also discovered the Winton Heritage Trail, which highlights 13 historic sites, grand old homes and buildings. I found the cutest little Belgium biscuits at The Bakery, had great coffee from the Magnolia Tree Cafe and picked up some locally grown veges from Wilson’s Vege Stall on the outskirts of Winton. A great little town and a fun explore.
