Pitches Store in Ophir
#344 Buy - Delicious cake and coffee sitting in the sun at Pitches Store in the tiny historic town of Ophir. Originally a butcher and general store, it was built around 1883 on land owned by John Pitches. The store was bought in 2006 and lovingly restored by local couple Colleen and David, they offer boutique accommodation, a cafe and restaurant in a stunning spot. Ophir is just a 2km side trip off the Rail Trail and fun even driving over the lovely old bridge from Omakau. They are doing fabulous food and for the last 2 years they have won Best Regional Restaurant in NZ, a gem in Central Otago.
