Yannick Fourbet (aka The French Potter) is originally from Anduze, in the south of France, a region famous for producing these large elegant vases that date back to the 17th century. Yannick has settled in Central Otago with his Kiwi wife Philippa (owner of local winery Domaine Rewa) and their gorgeous twin boys. The ancient art of rope thrown pottery uses timber spines wrapped in a coil of rope and the clay is hand applied. You can spot these stunning pieces on the hillside along the Cromwell-Wanaka Road at Domaine Rewa. How lucky we are to have such a talented local craftsman here in Central Otago.
