#Do - Arrowtown in autumn 🍂 Apparently early settlers and gold miners noticed the town was relatively devoid of trees. So in 1867 Alexander Innes, a local resident, organised the planting of an avenue of trees down the main street including oaks, sycamores, ashes, cork elms. Others followed - larches, rowan trees and flowering cherries. Now every year, autumn has become quite famous in this little town, colours so special there is even a festival to celebrate the season, which is into its 35th year. We’ve just had a fab long weekend in Arrowtown, and I loved getting out into the tracks in the hills to find some of these colours.
