#Eat - I’ve just polished off the last of my feijoas from Joe’s Vegie Stall in Alma. I’m a big fan of this sweet, tangy, aromatic fruit and have been on the lookout for local producers since moving back to Dunedin (other than raiding my parent’s trees....). So I was very excited to spot the big, bold, roadside sign advertising locally grown feijoas at Joe’s as I drove home from Waimate recently. The Joe family opened their business just south of Oamaru in 1973, and have a huge range of produce, including the biggest feijoas (and carrots) I’ve ever seen. Feijoas seem to ripen a little later down here than the rest of NZ, but so pleased to have discovered a place to stock up 👌
