Queens Park Invercargill. A quick day trip south to Invercargill last week meant I could explore a couple of local parks and trails. Queens Park sprawls across 81 hectares right in the centre of Invercargill, and offers beautiful gardens, sculptures, a golf course, a 4km fitness trail (I attempted 10 of the exercise stations and appeared to be rather uncoordinated at most of them) and wildlife. John Turnbull Thomson, chief surveyor for the province of Otago, set aside this land, originally covered in native forest, when he planned the layout of Invercargill in 1857. And did you know, this week it’s The Great KererÅ« Count?Â
