Central Otago Walnuts
Local walnuts! I spotted a small roadside stall at the entrance to the Kawarau Gorge from the Cromwell side and picked up a kilo of walnuts in a brown paper bag. I’m now on a wee mission to crack them all (I’ve not quite nailed the technique so will most likely find bits of walnut shell through the kitchen for the next few months....) and freeze them to keep them fresh.
