The track to the Ben Lomond Summit on Monday! 1748m at the top with panoramic views of the Wakatipu Basin. It was named after the Ben Lomond mountain in Scotland by an early shepherd, Duncan McAusland. My friend Emme and I took the Tiki Track which starts in Queenstown below the gondola, and headed up from there. The track to the saddle was a steady, gradual incline (past some wild goats) and then to the top was a little more challenging with some rocky steps and steeper slopes. A kea swooped past as we made it to the top. With lots of other walkers to talk to along the way, the tussock covered landscape, the views - it was a fab walk. Â
