Matanaka Meats
Our Christmas ham this year is from Matanaka Meats at Hawksbury Village. Ian and Rochelle opened their butchery 12 years ago and Matanaka is named after the historic farming settlement on the Otago coast. It was Ian’s passion in particular to source local meats, create the recipes and produce these artisan products. Sadly, Ian passed away 6 months ago, but his recipes continue to flavour these delicious hams. It was lovely to meet Rochelle and Joy when I did the roadtrip to collect what has already supplied us multiple meals including Christmas breakfast 🤗
