Lockdown loop #7
Today was mostly about getting outside on such a summery day. It beamed on us in Queens Drive at the stage of our walk when I had to mention the pool was just around the corner to keep us moving. Jack’s eyes light up when we talk about the pool and he usually pipes up ‘togs’ ‘splash’ ‘fish’ and today he also mentioned ‘closed’…
It made me think about Moana Pool. It opened in 1964, at a cost of £450,000. The site was once the Moana Lawn Tennis Club, hence the name Moana. Prior to this being constructed, the Tepid Baths in Lower Moray Place were the local aquatic facility. These were built in 1914 and closed in 1964, superseded by the new pool, and the site is now a DCC carpark. I wonder if there are any little remains of what was once there…
